Collapse ▲The Objective
To recruit EYFP’s FIRST Community Resource Hubs that will implement at least ONE sustainable project and serve as a station for county information and resources. Ideal projects focus on opioid prevention, general health, literacy, agriculture, and/or technology fluency.
The Program
Selected facilities will complete training and participate in the TEN week Empowering Youth and Families (EYFP) program. The purpose of EYFP is to strengthen family relationships and help facilities prepare for the implementation of a community program. EYFP programming will occur once per week for approximately two hours per meeting. Each week, ALL instructional materials AND meals will be provided by NC State and Cooperative Extension. Additionally, facilities that complete the program will be eligible for a FREE weekend camping retreat at a 4H campsite. During our weekly meetings, we will investigate lessons that review adolescent development, brain functionality, communication, and critical listening skills. We will also spend time understanding community needs and collaboration efforts. The program finale will involve the creation and execution of a community event, decided and planned by the facilities cohort (participants and facilitators). All program facilitators and participants will receive certificates of completion.
For Eligibility
Facilities that wish to apply must create a team of FIVE facilitators. Your facilitation team must sign up for training using the link below to be eligible for EYFP programming. Facilities MUST complete facilitation training and EYFP programming to become a community hub.
Deadlines
The deadline for submission of facilitation teams is June 11, 2022
