Description: This is the largest commercial vegetable growers’ event in the region with a high quality educational program put together by extension specialists and agents at NC State University. Pesticide credits will be offered. There will also be a trade show and a silent auction that supports student scholarships. The program will include presentations on managing pests and protecting pollinators, research into local foods, opportunities in new crops, grafted tomato and vegetable research, agriculture development trends in the region, weed management in grafted tomato systems, insect management, food safety, the Plant Science Initiative at NCSU, changes in Extension, tomato breeding and variety development, and management of cucurbit downy mildew and tomato late blight. There will be a sponsored social at 5:00 pm on Wednesday and a sponsored lunch and awards program at noon on Thursday.
