We will focus on the foundations of growing fruits and vegetables, preserving your harvest, & raising livestock. 

You can sign up for one or both days, read below for details on each day:


Saturday, March 29th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.:

Horticulture: 

  • Site Evaluation – Sun, Drainage, Soil sampling, Fertility
  • Realistic Fruit Expectations
  • Vegetable Variety Selection
  • Coastal Plain Planting Calendar/Crop Succession

Family & Consumer Sciences

  • Intro to Food Preservation
  • Pressure Canning Demonstration
  • Intro to Cottage Business Laws – baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles….

Saturday, April 5th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.:

Livestock:

  • Small Ruminant Care
  • Laying Flocks
  • Fencing and Infrastructure Needs
  • Pastures/Forages
  • Raising Hogs on the Ground
  • Meat Rabbit Production
  • Intro to Cottage Business Laws – egg handling, poultry processing, meat handlers license

4-H Youth Track

  • Livestock, food preservation, and horticulture for kids aged 8-12 only!
  • Must be enrolled in 4-H online
  • Cost is $15 per child (covers lunch & materials)

Once online registration is complete, stop by our office to pay to secure your spot! 

Registration will stop on March 20th OR whenever the program registration is full! Payment must be brought by March 20th!

Cost: $20 for one day / $30 for both days

Additionally, the 4-H Youth Track on April 5th is $15 per child.
