Three aquatic weeds in a pond

Parrotfeather, pennywort, and duckweed in an Onslow pond, 03/02/2020

The mild weather experienced this winter in southeastern NC has permitted a variety of aquatic plants and weeds to grow throughout the year. A recent site visit presented a pond with parrotfeather, pennywort, and duckweed all growing quite well, despite it only being March 2. The pond owners stated that the plants had been present and growing all winter long.

Recommendations on treatments for these aquatic plants – and any others that may be present – requires proper plant identification. Good photos, like that shown above, can be used to make the identifications without an actual site visit.
