Map of NC drought conditions

The NC Drought Monitor website lets you see current and historical drought conditions. Also discussed are river levels and fire risks. Have you checked it out?

As of the Jan. 21, 2020 update, the central and northern Coastal Plain counties are abnormally dry. This is an increase in extent from the prior week. The southern Coastal Plain counties are still showing sufficient soil moisture. What happens next? That depends on when and where the rain occurs.
