In July, Family & Consumer Sciences agent, Sarah Ware partnered with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Educator and held four in-person classes at the Community Center on base for military children. Each class focused on an in-season fruit or vegetable. Participants learned how it grows, nutritional facts, and how to cook or eat it. They would have the kids try it raw, then make a simple recipe, have a craft associated with the produce, read a story, and sing and dance.The children also learned how to kindly comment on how they felt about the class’s fruit or vegetable and recipe by giving a thumbs up or thumbs down. The turn out was a success!
