Horsin’ Around

Each week focuses on the totalhorsemanship package. Health care and an emphasis on the responsibilities ofowning and caring for a horse will be placed front and center.  Beginnerswill learn the basics of grooming, care and fitting of equipment, basicbalanced seat riding position in English saddles, control of the horse and useof correct aids.  More advanced campers may explore the concepts of horsetraining and behavior modification, along with advanced care and management. Advanced topics oftraining, management and care will be offered.  Instruction may includeintroduction of dressage concepts, jumping and how to handle or prevent badbehavior habits in horses. 

Trail riding is expected to be a partof each camp week - weather permitting. Fun crafts and games makethis a week full of smiles for all ages and levels developing new and lastingfriendships with other campers and horses.

**Campersmust wear safe, sturdy footwear such as a paddock shoe.  It must becompletely enclosed, extend up to the ankle, and have a smooth sole with aseperate heel of about 1/2" in height. Absolutely no high heels, sandals,flip flops, or flat bottom sneakers or athletic shoes. These shoes do not haveto be special riding boots. All campers must wear long pants or tights. Noshorts. Allcampers will wear helmets provided by Foothills Equestrian. ** Be sure to pack a drink and a bagged lunch labeled with your name.  Cooler will be provided.
