Description:

Through the course of several weeks, you will go beyond the basics of beginning horticulture and learn about all the aspects of growing plants in the garden and throughout the landscape.  In all, you will receive more than 40 hours of horticultural training from soils & fertilizers, to insects & disease management, planting, pruning and everything in between.
As a certified Master Gardener, you become a volunteer of NC State Extension, capable of working with and educating others in various areas of horticulture. Volunteers agree to return 40 hours of service to the public through Extension and Master Gardener events and activities in the first year after the course.  The class will begin on Thursday, March 1st with an orientation intended to provide additional information and to answer any other questions regarding the program. Classes will continue on Tuesday's and Thursday's 9:00-1:00 through April 26th.
The cost of the program is $100, which will cover the cost of the training manual, state dues and other materials needed for the course.  Some sessions will feature specialists in various fields of experience and Extension Agents from surrounding counties as well as some hands-on classes to allow personal experience on certain topics.  To preregister for the course or if you have questions about the program, please contact our office by phone 837-2210 or email at keith_wood@ncsu.edu.
