CALS Faculty and Staff,

NC State University and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) continue to monitor the spread and potential impacts of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. If you haven’t already visited the university’s new coronavirus website, please plan on referencing it regularly for updates and resources, as this is the primary source for related news and updates.

In an effort to streamline our communications and provide clear and accurate information, we ask that ALL coronavirus-related media requests be routed through CALS Communications — Richard Campbell, Chief Communications Officer — before providing comment. This applies to all CALS faculty and staff, including county Extension personnel.

The process pertains to any requests from media entities and news organizations, such as TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, blogs and others, including media inquiries received via social media.

Please copy Justin Moore, NC State Extension Marketing and Communications Director, when forwarding media requests. Our communications team will coordinate with University Communications and work with you on a case-by-case basis to determine the best response. See below for contact information.

Regarding non-media questions received from your contacts and partners, any information shared should be research-based, within your area of expertise and sourced from NC State’s coronavirus website or the CDC whenever possible. Any other information or resources require approval through the university.

We will continue to work with the university and others to monitor and plan for the potential impacts of COVID-19. In the meantime, please refer to NC State’s coronavirus website for updates. Thank you for your attention and support in this timely matter.
